This graduate course introduces the student to essential topics of electric power systems and the power grid. The course covers: 3 phase power, transformers, transmission lines, power flow, fault analysis, protection, and an overview of smart grids. Course prerequisites are foundational topics of AC electricity such as: phasor analysis and diagrams, AC and complex power (active and reactive powers).
