Richard Cogill

This course will explore various contemporary approaches to God and God's relationship to humankind, including perspectives written by people traditionally on the margins of theological research. A central question for this section will be how God, evil, and suffering can co-exist. This course explores the role of scripture, history, tradition and common human experience in the understanding of religious mystery and the systematic expression of that mystery in the Christian tradition. It examines both ancient and contemporary formulations of theological knowledge, requirements for theological scholarship, and consideration of certain key theological questions.
