The ability to identify legal issues being raised by computer technology and guidelines for their solution is a continuing requirement for competence in the field of software design and development. Consequently, the students are provided with an examination of a broad range of legal issues in technology including patent law, copyright law, trade secrets, trademarks, contracts, ownership issues in software development, and computer failures and related torts. Prerequisite: SEIS 610
