All candidates who are pursuing the Strategic and Explicit Academic Instruction Certificate will jointly enroll in SPED 790: Clinical Practice: Learning Disabilities for 2 credits and SPED: 791 Clinical Practice Seminar: Strategic and Explicit Instruction Certificate for one credit. The purpose of this seminar is to support candidates’ use of the skills being applied in SPED: 790. These skills include: administering baseline assessments; designing individualized and small group research-based instruction; monitoring on-going student performance; evaluating and adapting instruction based on student performance; reinforcing appropriate research-based instructional practices; and providing on-going feedback to parents or guardians as to student performance. Prerequisites: SPED 705, SPED 788, concurrent registration with SPED 790
