Provides a foundation for working with preschoolers and their families in early childhood and early childhood special education programs. Emphasis is placed on the history, laws and regulations guiding ECSE services, typical and atypical early-childhood development, service delivery models, developmentally appropriate practice, curricular adaptations for children with a variety of disabilities, and developing curriculum that is functional, appropriate, adaptable and fun. Curriculum units will be created that enhance child development and are adapted for children with a variety of disabilities. Prerequisite(s): SPED 750 Survey of Exceptionality or Advisor Approval.
