School of Ed Transfer Course
Course Description: This course uses ecology as a conceptual framework for understanding the spread and control of infectious diseases. Students will develop problem solving and critical thinking skills as we explore the effect alternative modes of transmission have on disease dynamics, how host populations are impacted by pathogens and how different control measures (vaccines, antimicrobial medications, vector control, etc...) alter epidemiology. We will also extend our framework to non-communicable diseases, such as autoimmune disorders and cancer. Prerequisites: BIOL 209 and MATH 113 or MATH 109 or instructor permission.
